Our Prius is approaching 98,000 miles and its still looks like new. My wife has been talking about the possibility of getting a Plug in Prius as she has a 17 mile commute. I checked out cars.com and noticed the wide difference of prices for the plug in. I noticed some 2013 plug in Prius in the 26,000 to 27,000 range but these are all back east, nothing near this close out west here. I have not checked with the dealers on these low prices but why are these prices thousands of dollars less than out west here?
they are rusting on the lots out this way. many have flown in for a purchase and had a nice drive home. we have no incentives such as state tax credits or hov passes. or the year round mild climate which is conducive to electric driving. or the solar capacity for cheap/free electricity. or the abundance of public charging stations.
In doing the math If I can buy a 2013 for 27,000 and take a 2,500 tax credit , real cost is 24,500. My wife and I could make a vacation out of it. Fly back east, tour New England, and then head out west across the country in our new Prius.
i like your train of thought. check out markabele, i think he flew to jersey for his. great time of year for it too! all the best!
