Hello, I’m purchasing a ‘08 Prius 2!that had its cat stolen and am wondering which aftermarket replacement is best bet for performance, longevity and lest likely to through codes? Thanks!

I don't think it's possible to buy a car in that condition with a normal title in California since it cannot pass smog, and if it can't pass smog, no sale. I guess if it came with a salvage title that transaction would be legal. Anyway, California has a (very short) list of approved converters and only those can be used to make the repair. I believe some states may have the same rules. For sure some states don't check any of this and you could just put a straight pipe in all the way to the muffler and the state wouldn't care. That would still be a federal violation, but if the state isn't looking, nobody is looking.

Hopefully MN has DIY friendly rules..as long as the aftermarket is fed approved.
