My attempt to use the search function on this forum turned out the following, which I'd like to confirm is correct:

Whether the Certified Pre-Owned label means anything about whether the car I'm about to buy depends heavily on the reputation of the dealer. Although they will be obligated to fix the car if I find a problem within the period, it's going to be a headache. Therefore, I should still arrange for an independent mechanic who is knowledgeable about Priuses to inspect the car.

Is this an accurate assessment? Is there any way to check whether the dealer is reputable? (I'm not much of a yelp or Google reviews user, so I don't know how to spot fake reviews... except this one really dumb guy who used his real name on Google to give himself a good review as a salesman) Arranging for a mechanic to inspect the car is annoying, but not nearly as annoying as if I had to get the car repaired.
