was looking at a conversion kit from change2e85.com and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these? According to the company they have installed these in many Prius models and its worked well. I'm thinking I might order one to try it out, but I wanted to see if anyone else had an experience with them.
Cool, was not aware of such a beast for Prius...though I wonder what kind of hit in MPG would be typical with e85.
I haven't, but I'd be reeeeeeeeal careful about using one on a Prius. Their "Warranty": The warranty is restricted to the product operation and does not apply to the "vehicle performance” after its installation due to other vehicle maintenance issues. FFI in no way covers nor holds the responsibility of guarantee with the use of Ethanol in any vehicle that this product is installed. This is an aftermarket conversion unit that the buyer or user holds responsibility of the installation. We place no claims as to the improvement of fuel mileage or engine life from the use of Ethanol and FFI Platinum Kits What it means: If you use this device, and there's something in the Prius engine that hasn't been built with LONG TERM use of alky-haul in mind (injector seals, Fuel Pump, etc....) and your engine goes Tango-Uniform, well........you're on your own. I'm not anti-ethanol by anybody's yardstick!!! However (comma!) I'd just like to know a little bit more about what makes a car with a yellow gas cap be able to burn E85 for 100,000 miles and why the manufacturers state very clearly in their owner's manuals several times that you can't do it with cars with black gas caps. I'm nobody's idea of an automotive engineer, but I'm guessing that it's not the gas cap, or (maybe) even some $50 gizzywhopper that you can bolt to your engine. ...Just sayin.
