Hello, I need to change the right rear brake caliper on my 2006 gen 2 Prius as the brakes are sticky. Im planning to just clamp the hose, swap the brake caliper and thats it. Like they do in the following video: Now I've read on this forum that you need to have a VCI for bleeding the brakes. I do not own a VCI and was wondering if I'm going to have any faulty codes if I dont properly bleed the brakes straight after changing the caliper. I am planning on letting the dealer bleed the brakes the following day. Thanks in advance.
Be careful to keep the fluid topped up in the reservoir, don't let it go low there. Hopefully no issues and you can cancel the dealer appointment. moto g(7) power ?
Are you sure it is the rear brakes that need attention? The Gen 2 Prius does not have calipers and rotors on the rear, only brake shoes and drums. Clamping the brake line to minimize loss of fluid is a good idea regardless.
Other markets sold the Gen2 with 4 rotors. You could try bleeding the rear by using a "prius rock" (and any required safety precautions)
