Has anyone used either the Maxx volt charger or the Prolong charger to charge your hybrid battery? I am needing a solution to charge my battery. I purchased a ‘10 with a bad head gasket. I repaired the car and I believe the hybrid battery is too low to run the car. It only shows 1 bar. The car will starts and dies very slowly. Any other suggestions to charge the battery would be appreciated too. I do have another Prius here and have read it is possible to “jump” the traction battery packs with each other. Sounds really dangerous…
It is NOT suggusted to "jump" the hybrid battery. In theory you can do that, buttttt...... You could purchase the Prolong system. And run through the 4 charge and 3 discharge cycles. It certainly has worked for me. You can also purchase an RC charger of 7.4 volts, and charge each physical battery, or perhaps each pair at a time for a few hours each, trying to keep them at the same voltage. Does the engine turn over? If it does, there should be enough of a charge to start the car. You could jump the fuel pump relay to pressurize the fuel lines. That may be why it quits.
Maybe check it out with Dr Prius app. An OBD dongle (Carista is good) is needed. "One" bar does not bode good.
