My check engine icon lit up. I live 80 miles from a dealer. Have moved from Kansas to a small town in Iowa. I am wondering if there is any way to tell if my 2007 Prius is safe to drive that far? There is a garage here that will put it through a scan this afternoon to see if they can find what's wrong but they don't do maintenance on hybrids. Any ideas for me? I have 81,000 miles and have kept up on maintenance,
let us know the error code the garage comes up with and we can offer options... Also your car is too old to go to a dealership. They're going to sell you a bunch of unneeded repairs that will be so expensive they'll try to convince you to finance a new car and trade yours in. That's why we call them stealership... They're great for recalls or warranty repairs, but after that, they're the biggest car repair rip-off out there.
start by checking your gas cap tightness. then drive to a local auto parts store for a code reading. check engine is pollution related
