Check Engine, Red Triangle, code: P0A80

    Hello,

    I'm guessing that I need to repair or replace the HV battery. But I'm not sure.

    Today I drove for about 20 minutes with no issue. 10 minutes later, I got back in the car to drive again. This time, after about 20 seconds into the drive, a string of dash lights came on; Red triangle, VSC, Check engine.

    The VSC light went away. But the red triangle and check engine light are still on. So, I had the trouble codes pulled by a mechanic, and the code P0A80 was returned along with a statement reading 'replace hybrid battery'.

    Should I take this at face value? Or look for something else first?

    is it exactly 150k? that's the warranty. if it's exactly 150,000, have it towed to the dealer!:p if it's over 150, ask the for a good faith warranty.(y)

    Yeah, it's over 150,000. Something like 150,500.

    Apparently you don't know the warranty duration of the HV Battery: 10years/150,000 miles for CARB states. California is the original CARB State, and the 2007 model year is covered by this warranty. This assumes the car was initially purchased and vehicle registration maintained in a CARB State.

    You need to:
    1) get the car to a Toyota dealer, so they can pull the codes and confirm HV Battery failure
    2) if the dealer confirms HV Battery failure, you need to call Toyota Customer care and ask for Goodwill assistance (maybe 100% covered, maybe 50% covered, maybe 0% covered).
    3) Moving forward, READ the Warranty Manual and Owners Manual for all future cars you own! Knowledge is power, and you don't want your ignorance to cost you like the people in the following post.
