This is probably going to sound like a completely newbie question... how can I find out if I have an extended warranty? I purchased a used 2012 Prius V in 2013 (16k miles). It's now nearing 100k. I paid off the loan last June. The dreaded Gasket issue happened today after the start-up rattle started only 5 days ago. How would I even attempt to see if I have an extended warranty? I remember padding in something extra when I purchased the car from a local Toyota Dealership. Blown Head Gasket. | PriusChat The general consensus seems to be get a full engine replaced or do a trade-in... which would result in car payments again.
The best thing is to check with the dealership using the car's vin. As far as the head gasket, I would check with "Luscious Garage" in sf for their advice. A new head gasket might be ok if on a 100k engine done by a qualified shop. Probably a used engine would be advisable but the main thing would be to find someone who has good experience and specializes in Prius like Luscious Garage. Somebody that maintains Prius v in taxi fleets would be ideal.
