Looking at a Prius or Prius v. I'm wondering if it's still possible to fold down the 60% side of the rear seats if I have a child seat installed (forward facing) on the 40% side behind the driver. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
No problem, and no different than a passenger seated behind the driver while the other side of the rear seat is folded flat.
I think your question is more "is it permissible?". Look at it this way: if it's readily done, you didn't modify the seats or interior in anyway, it's doable, then it's fine. Unless maybe you're transporting boa constrictors.
Thanks! It's actually a question of space. In my current car (Honda Fit) if I install the seat on the 40% side of the split, it overhangs into the 60% portion, blocking that section from folding down. It could just be a matter of getting a different car seat. I'm looking to be able to haul long items (with the front passenger seat folded down as well) without having to remove the child seat every time.
I have a big car seat, the Chicco NextFit Zip rear facing on the 40% side and can easily fold up and down the 60% side with no problems, so unless you have a seat bigger than the NextFit Zip, you will have no problem.
