2013. Key is in my pocket. Does not happen every time, but started happening a week ago and has happened 5 times now. Definitely there is no other key in car. It has happened when I come out of work and get within about thirty feet of car; it chirps and the yellow outside lights flash off and on until I get in car. Has also happened twice after I park and turn off car- multiple beeps and flashing lights until I get around fifty feet away from the car.
If there is one thing you can glean from the numerous threads on strange electrical behavior, it is to check that little 12V battery first thing. Four years isn't especially young in lead-acid battery life.
