Decided to clean my egr tube on my 2014 with 90k miles yesterday. I tackled this at the same time I cleaned my throttle plate, which kind of made sense. Both jobs took me about 75 miles total, not knowing what to do. I was a big shocked at how nasty the tube was, even though i knew it was recommended to clean it around this mileage. So just thought i would post a little psa for all. Clean out those egr tubes.
Good thing to check. Now that you’ve seen this, guess what the next steps will be . Good luck with the intake manifold and egr valve and cooler.
Ugh... I know. I'm not looking forward to that. but using nutz about boltz videos I'm sure my dad and I can attack them in an afternoon.
Depends on how clean you want your egr cooler. I’d buy a spare and get her ready for service . Otherwise you’ll rush to button everything back up and the cooler might not be as clean as you’d like . Definitely DIY it.
Thanks so much for your awesome videos. Has saved me hundreds of dollars. The only one i let toyota do was brake fluid and caliper slide pins. Just more work than i wanted to do.
Just completed the EGR procedure...mine was in really bad shape...water would only drip out the other side when testing the flow. Lucky for me I had prepared a spare EGR cooler beforehand. Here is a post about it : Hi all, new Prius v owner | Page 3 | PriusChat
Oh, don’t like getting down and dirty with the tires huh? Those wheels are light, the worst time to mess with tires are rainy season, you get wet by them
There’s a jacking point on the Prius in the front, unlike other brand vehicle *cough* American cars *cough* And you can put the jackstands on the side welded area
