    Hi all!

Just purchased my 2010 IV a few weeks ago and have noticed some smudges on the display where you get your graph for fuel economy. I had thought they were just finger prints and they would wipe right off. Come to find out they seem to be smudges behind the plexiglass. How they could have gotten there I have no idea. It's a little annoying and I would live to clean it up. Any suggestions?? The smudges are most noticeable on the right side towards the top of the graph with a smaller smudge on the left side, also towards the top of the display.

    Thanks!

Because that part is a Heads Up Display, you are only seeing a mirror image of the actual display from the flat surface below it. Clean the other part and you may get it cleaned off.

The graphs, on my model ad least are not a part of the HUD, but rather seem to be on a small LCD type display behind plexiglass. The speedometer, real time mpg etc are the HUD on mine.

Is Andrax seeing the blurred display that many early 3rd Gen's had?

If you look at the attached image above on the graph farthest to the right towards the top and then 4 over to the left in the middle you can see small, circular smudges. That's what I'm talking about, it's a little hard to see in that pic I think.

Yea that is not the blurred display issue. Those displays were a mess to look at. Looks like something got splashed up there. Since it is a projected display, I'd reach in there with a clean cloth and wipe the whatever it is in there to see if the smudge marks go away. I got a feeling it is a pretty simple cleaning task :)

That display is projected as well? From where? There isn't an opening on the dash like there is on the speedometer which disappears when you move your hand through it. That particular display that I am having a problem with seems to be frustratingly locked away behind Plexiglas making it difficult to get at. Also makes me wonder how in the world anything could get on it to start with.

Ah I thought the whole display was projected. Sorry :( I hope you don't have to take the dash out to get to it, although some on here will say the dash comes out easy. Hmmm, I got an easy solution, trade it in on a 2012 today :)

The haziness is on the inner surface of the "No. 3 Meter Lens". Yes, that's what it is called. It appears to happen only on some 2010 Prius, and I have not heard of any recurrence after the lens had been replaced. The upper instrument panel has to be removed in order to remove and disassemble the combination meter. Not a big deal as long as the tech is careful. It would be covered by the 3 year / 36K mile warranty. I don't know if extended warranty would cover it. It wouldn't hurt to call your dealer and ask.

Well hell, guess I'm stuck with it since I'm at 45000 miles.
