I just had a Renault Clio diesel as a hire car. I'd never driven one before and was quite impressed by how refined the latest dCi units are, carteinly a little quieter than the 13 year old diesel in my Astra! Averaged 52.7 mpg over a 100 mile trip, about 54 mpg at a steady 70 mph.
