Does anyone know if the clock spring for the generation 2 and the generation 3 are interchangeable The generation 2's white cables have eight channels or eight wires running down the flat cable. Gen3 same amount? Installing a Gen 3-wheel and a generation 2 they're apparently some pinout differences but the plugs are the same. I don't see where anyone's done this before or.
I was just curious if there's any more channels The generation 2 has eight wire strips or red strips running down the white strip cable and there are two of them I guess I'll have to go grab hold of one and see The plugs are the same though both of the steering wheel button pad sets from the two cars generation two and three have the same plugs that plug in the same holes and both of them have one pin not being used so probably not going to worry with it I can get a carbone steering wheel for the generation 2 now so I guess the point is moot I would have figured by now someone had easily stuck a generation 3-wheel on a generation two car and got most of everything to work but as usual apparentlly not.
Some button on the steering wheel stopped working? You can swap the pins on the connectors to the backup line and restore the button's operation.
I am moving a generation 3 steering wheel with similar buttons as my generation 2 to my generation 2 this is the one that's kind of modeled after the Emerson fittipaldi E3 wheel flat on the bottom good for knee driving whatever the the plugs that come off the button pads are exactly the same amount of pins one not being used can be clearly seen in the diagram of each vehicle The colors are slightly different and I haven't been able to find the pin outs for both button sets from the generation 2 and the generation 3 when you pull the horn pad off everything looks very similar but not interchangeable obviously or that would have been done already so that's basically the deal so right now I'm driving around a generation two with the top of the line generation 3 steering wheel with the center connector unplugged so horn stereo air conditioning and all that do not work from the steering wheel. When I plug up the generation 3 wheel in the generation two car no consequence it plugs right up and everything sort of works. The MFD is telling me that part of the stereo is missing but yet I can turn the volume up and down when I push the air conditioning button or the fan button for the air it tells me that part of the air conditioning system is missing literally right on the screen there are components not found or something it says on the display but yet the volume goes up and down. The only idiosyncrasy is getting my heat and air conditioning to work and all I've done about that when it was plugged up is not touch the steering wheel buttons go right to the MFD and turn the air on. I didn't know if there was a workaround I need to go over and look on Toyota mods I guess
