my dear husband finished his last day of college today as of friday, he will officially have his degree and will be a qualified biomedical equipment technician. 75 credits of classes (done in 4 semesters): check. hospital internship: he kicked nice person and had a lot of fun. mock certification exam: passed with flying colors! i'm so proud of him.
Someone once tried to say that car mechanics was all you knew. We all knew they were wrong. Such a well-rounded and intelligent guy. Way to go, Doug. And you get to come home to Nicki to boot. Such a lucky fellow.
Doug, Well done, indeed. I hardly know ya, but your accomplishment rates the highest recognition for your hard work and persistence. My brother in Maine is completing his career change to biomedical equipment technician in June. It has been difficult for him to complete the schooling and internship (unpaid) while holding a full-time job to support his wife and two kids. From his reports, what you've both done is no "gimmie." :first: Again, congratulations sir. :cheer2:
fortunately for him, i was able to swing our expenses on my income. (barely!) he had to commute at minimum 40 miles each way, and at maximum 100 miles each way. for 9 months we lived separately so that he could go to school on the other end of the state (100-mile commute instead of 180-mile commute). he lived with and cared for his elderly grandparents during that time. working at all during all that was pretty much not an option for him. there were major sacrifices. our presence here on PC has almost ceased to exist. but things are looking up!
Congratulations. I am proud of both of you: to you Doug, for having the courage to recreate yourself in a new career, and to you galaxee, for supporting him while putting yourself through school. You guys are going to do great things. Very soon, life will be easier for you. Tom
Congratulations, Doug! You're in impressive guy to have accomplished so much so fast. Congratulations to you too, Nikki, for supporting Doug and putting in your own long hours. You're an exceptional couple, I'm glad I know you.
Yay! That's great news! :whoo::hug: It's been a long, tough haul for you two, and you fully deserve all the success you've earned.
Congrats to Doug. You two represent what this country ought to be about..the ability to pull yourselves up by the boot straps, make a positive out of a tough situation. You guys are bright, hard working and deserve a handsome reward. I wish you both all the success in the world. Assuming Nikki every finishes school... ;-)
thanks everyone. everyone *except* Evan, that is. that's a dangerous thing to mention in the presence of an endstage dissertation-writer.
My god has that much time gone by already? Tell him I said CONGRATS!!!! I'm glad he was able to turn everything around so quickly after the issue at the dealership!
the time has gone a little slower from our perspective, but nonetheless it's over. E, you're safe... for now.
Good on ya Doug and Nikki, you both deserve congratulations for this. I realise Doug worked hard on his studies but Nikki made sure it happened by working hard and paying the bills at the same time. Doug, once again someone is smart enough to see that working on cars isn't all they can do. The move from workshop to classroom isn't easy and to get through your studies so successfully is a tribute to you both. I was very lucky that I found a new job which included training and I got paid more to do that training than I got paid as a mechanic. I'm now earning more than double what I earned in my last job as a mechanic, and this job just creams the last one. Now I hope you find work quickly in your new field and turn those tight finances around soon. Nikki, is it your turn to slow down a little now? I know you have been working hard and spending smart.
I'll add my congratulations to those already offered! :cheer2: Does he have a job lined up? With my health care background, I'm curious to know what kind of devices he'll be working on.
All the good stuff happens while I'm asleep! Congratulations to your hubby, Galaxee. He's obviously a talented guy & lucky to have such a supportive wife. Two thumbs way up!
