Hi all, This is a minor problem, but I'm wondering if anyone else has seen it, or if I caused it to happend in advertantly. The average mpg displayed on the consumption screen stayed at 58.5 for four days - never varied, and I *know* it should have. (It did in the past, and my commute is downhill one way and uphill the other.) This continued even after refueling. Finally, I hit the "reset" after refueling and the problem went away - the average updated and varied quite a bit as usual. (In fact, I briefly saw 62.5 for a second, but that's another story.) The only thing I've done that might have possibly caused this was starting up the car and starting to move before realizing that I hadn't released the parking brake. This happened twice, in each case I realized what was happening before moving 10 feet.... Anybody else see the average on the consumption screen "stick" at a number? Thanks in advance, Bill H.

The parking brake has nothing to do with it.
Evan, Thanks for your reply - I'll break out the owner's manual now and start reading....too late, I know. I assumed it auto-reset after fill-up....does it auto-reset only the "miles on current tank" and leave the average alone....I know, time to read the manual.. Handy if you want to see an average MPG for a whole trip or just for the lifetime of the car (assuming noone accidently touches the reset). The '04 & '05 reset both miles and mpg each fill up.
The manual wouldn't help here... it says they both reset (as they do for older models), however only the miles reset, not the average
Thanks all - I guess after 3+ months of ownership I was settling in on 58.5 as a "lifetime" average. (My commute is ideal for getting good mileage.) Early on I drove 1200 miles (long round trip) and averaged about 53, but since then my commute probably brought the average back up to 58.5, which means I probably have done even better on the commute. It's funny, I'm still looking at the same numbers and facts as before, but now I feel much better whereas before I was just bewildered....shows what one faulty assumption can do....thanks again for the answers... --Bill H.
How do you find the average? All I've seen is the trip average, which resets when I tell it to. Is there something that's accurate that doesn't reset that I can check?
