    If this pans out it is a remarkable invention. I like the way a single principle can be used to either increase or decrease the adhesion of the ice. I hope it works and can be scaled into commercial items.

    Yes, it would be great for car windows, planes, power lines, etc. The energy saving for refrigeration defrosting could be significant. I love the way a simple question "why does ice stick so well?" has such a profound answer and science behind it.
