Greg1780Junior Member I have a 2008 Prius that I purchased new almost 11years ago, it now has 160,000 miles and it’s been a gem of a car. Suddenly the heat output is at (half heat) and all the fluids are full. Also, the display screen shows the electric is generating only 1/2 to 1 vehicle, (50 watts) o the screen. Q: Does this normally mean the main battery is about to go bad. Thank you Greg
How well the heater is working has nothing to do with the battery. Check the coolant level in the radiator when the engine is cool. Also turn the car on and take the cap off the inverter reservoir, you should see coolant circulating in there.
Welcome to PriusChat!! Please include you location so that you can receive better input on your perceived problem(s). If you live in an area that is experiencing extreme cold (under 0C/32F), you may find the heater lacking at best. The MPG will also suffer. Do you notice anything else on the display screen, like when you park with a full HV battery and then upon restarting its nearly empty?
