I will be purchasing a new traction battery. The core I have has all second Gen modules and is in fairly good shape (besides 4 bad modules). My concern is that one of the modules has a broken post. Has this been an issue for anyone who has returned a core?
As far as I know they don't lift the cover off the core they just make sure that the cover has Toyota stickers on it generally they like it to be silver and not painted usually I just grab a factory cover from my battery guy if I need one like I turned in a green bean one time and before I even brought the core in and purchased and picked up the battery and whatnot I changed out the green bean cover which was painted and had a sticker on it and put a Toyota silver cover with Toyota stickers still clean visible and intact the cover wasn't perfect shape no rust or anything Russ doesn't matter like from dripping hatches no problem to me it looks like they don't do anything except look at the physical part you're turning in it's silver and the little goals crews are all in place on the top of the cover not on the bottom holding the modules in and that was it they dropped it in that big shipping case foam looking refrigerator type of case looking thing that the battery goes in but the straps on it push some buttons in my core was in the system in a few hours. For this twice same procedure
I don't think they inspect is that closely, but considering a busted post could cost you your $1350 deposit If I were you I'd spend the 1/2 hours it takes to swap that module out with a junk module just to be safe.
