So pretty much since I bought the car in April I've been recording most trips (as long as its a common to/from situation) in a spreadsheet. After a small sample size (a little under 150 trips) I decided to run some correlation numbers. They are pretty obvious with no real insight but thought some of you might care to see them. Without further ado: MPG to Time .26 MPG to Duration -.09 MPG to Distance -.13 MPG to Odometer .27 MPG to Speed -.10 MPG to Temp .24 MPG to Tank Level -.10 MPG to Elevation -.72 There is also a round trip route I take a lot. Numbers just for that trip are: MPG to Time -.22 MPG to Duration -.03 Distance always same MPG to Odometer .50 MPG to Speed .02 MPG to Temp .11 MPG to Tank Level -.18 Elevation 0 due to round trip For me only 2 things standout as noteworthy. The first is how much improvement can be had in FE simply by having practice and experience driving it. Second is that fuel weight clearly affects FE, but probably a little more than I had anticipated. And yes, I realize I should be documenting a few other variables but I wasn't as educated when I started this log and really don't have enough motivation to change my methods.
