I am not a regular reader of CR, and I usually read their reviews with some degree of skepticism. According to them, 7 cars out of top 10 reliable cars are made by Toyota, placing Lexus GX at the crown. Then Prius C. What do you think of placing Prius PRIME on third on the ranking without track record? 10 Most Reliable Cars - Consumer Reports Sorry if this topic has already been brought up.
CR gave the Tesla Model S the highest ranking possible when the S first came out. Now it’s removed from their “ Recommended” list. I for one appreciate their ratings especially since they are beholden to no one as in they accept no $ from advertisers etc.. In short they are not above changing a rating if warranted.
I am sure folks in Prius C forum is celebrating CR's report. At least C has a track record to back it up if asked. It just seems strange to place PRIME above corolla or Gen4 Prius when PRIME has only 1 year of track record to survey. TBH, I don't know the actual matrix they used to come up with their ranking, since I have not read this thoroughly. Guide to Car Reliability - Consumer Reports
I’m sure the gen 4 forum is too. They (CR) sends out a bazillion questionnaires to their members asking reliability related questions. The results are used to generate the report.

And this is the key. The survey is measuring each model's reliability from the past year only. So for the Prime you have a low sample size and they are all new! I'll be impressed if it is in the top ten when the survey is covering Primes that are 5+ years or 75k+ miles.
I think it will only improve like other Toyota products eg. Prius C, Prius Gen 4 and Corolla. Only time will tell which of us is correct.
