Cruise Control power failure Related to a prior failure? -my 04 has had a power failure – yet to be fixed – in its entertainment radio/CD/tape deck module and now - two weeks later the cruise control now fails to engage, although the display “cruise†light goes on. What is the relation – if any and what is the trouble shooting path to take?
Probably no relation. The problem is either with the brake pedal switch, cruise control switch, the wiring harness, or the hybrid vehicle ECU. Clearly the least difficult to deal with is the brake pedal switch: make sure the rear stoplights are off, when the pedal is not depressed. I suggest that if you wish to DIY, you obtain the relevant electrical wiring diagram pages and repair manual info from techinfo.toyota.com. You could test the cruise control switch and wiring harness by removing the relevant wiring harness connector from the HV ECU and using an ohmmeter to see what resistance measurements happen as you exercise the various switches on the cruise control stalk. Good luck.
Other post on PC also say to check the 12V battery in the trunk...if this is weak......could cause all types of weird electrical happenings.
Be sure to check all the fuses in the cabin fuse box which is near the hood release lever, and the engine compartment fuse block as well. Also does your radio have power going to it?
