while recording some cds at home , I noticed there were clear , round hard plastic spacers w/ an open center that slips over the spindle , possibly used to keep the cdr's in the bottom and top of the larger cdr containers from being scratched during shipping . So , if you happen to have or plan to buy some cdrs or dvdrs , take a look to see if any are present and picture them as a free long lasting crush washer . Any takers on this idea ? If so , may the oil change gods be with you . Oh , and let us know the results .
If these spacers are polyethylene (as I suspect), they would not be very sturdy at 'hot oil' temperatures. Voting against this one! Would rather you reused the old crush washer if you can't stand to buy a new one. In either case, take a peek down there, a few times, after the oil change to make sure there's no dripping.
