Source: 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT diesel: In it for the long haul - The San Diego Union-Tribune . . . I'd driven the Cruze TD tester just a little more than 50 miles the first day and had worked up to a 40-mpg average, according to the onboard computer. I was ahead of the mpg curve, but it would be a workout to get the EPA’s rating of 52 mpg highway or 48 mpg highway for the six-speed manual tester. And I almost got there. . . . I am not a diesel fanboy but this is a nice, professional review. Bob Wilson
CR got 60mpg in their highway tests in the 2017 Cruze sedan, better (gallon of diesel for gallon of gasoline) than any hybrid they tested including the Prius Prime (using only gasoline they got 59mpg).
