Hello, I have 2012. During right turns my driver's side CV boot makes a noise as it moves. Took tire off to confirm. No abnormalities seen. Boot looks like it's in good shape. For the heck of it I sprayed some water on it and moved wheel. When wet, the CV boot doesn't make noise during movement. Can I spray maybe some kind of silicone spray on it to decrease the noise more permanently? I researched online and could not find an answer to this. Many say if you hear noise, it's time for cv joint replacement. I don't agree yet with this advice, since the noise silences as I make boot moist. Any opinions on this matter is appreciated.
Yeah you can spray some crap on it whatever pick your poison and that's wetting the dry rotting. Obviously that will help silence the stretchy noises of the drying rotting rubber try something like armor All don't go crazy with it just a few squirts and rub it around the boot let it sit there a few minutes put wheel back on that should hold you until the boot stretches enough to actually blow open and start slinging grease everywhere personally I would want to not get to the grease slinging everywhere it is a nasty mess get the pressure washer out I would be looking to put a boot or an axle on before the grease starts blowing out personally
Mr.Bisco, you thankfully made me think twice about my statement. You are right, because, even when turning at the point where steering stays same, i still hear something similar but obviously not same. I probably will still put some spray on boot but , that's not my only issue. It kind of sounds like rubbing a blown up balloon, with fingers. I do here it going straight as well but at a lower amount. Only hear it at slow speed. I thinking it could even be tire, they are old but still has thread. I hate unknown sounds, its like trying to find a water leak or a/c leak. Ya don't know for sure where its coming from. Hate to bring it into shop without knowing for sure, because I can be taken for a ride!
