So I'm outside moving a car seat around and a SUV starts to make the turn around a corner. I hear the engine throttle blip and all 4 tires very briefly lose traction around the corner. Darn jerks I briefly think... Oh, wait, it's my wife driving our 420hp/425tq SUV. The somewhat funny thing is she's a tree hugger from Oregon and I'm the (as some would stereotype) gun-totin', environment be damned conservative. Some may say it's ironic that she drives a vehicle that gets 11mpg (on premium) while I drive a vehicle that gets 50+ mpg... others will certainly call her a hypocrite. For instance, just last night we were at my brother-in-laws house and she was going through his trash pulling out all the stuff that should have been recycled. :sorry: Oh well, we're placing a order for the Hybrid Aspen when it comes out in a few months... although not a Prius, and still a huge vehicle, it will more than double her current mileage. This vehicle will further decrease the amount of time we spend driving our guzzlers. It's a step in the right direction. In reality our gas guzzlers spend most of their time in the garage anyway.
It's all about education then application of that new knowledge. Education is why I sold my 720rwhp 4x4 truck. lol
It wasn't that long ago when an SUV was the car of choice for tree huggers. Some romantic notion about off-roading to the woods to hug trees.
Is there not a saying about how you should not judge people by their past behavior if they didn't know any better at the time? If conditions change and they do not adapt to the new knowledge then some moral responsibility can be placed on them IMO.
