I got a dash mat from Dashdesigns.com in Tempe Ariz. They did a nice job. Their mat looks better on the Prius than some of the ones I've seen in the photo album. I ordered a black one because I was concerned about the reflected glare. I got another one for my partner's birthday for his Jetta TDI. He wanted dark blue, which, after I saw it in place, I thought was much nicer than the black. He said he had no problem with glare, so I went ahead and ordered a dark blue one for my car. There is a problem with the glare. I would suggest to anyone considering the dash mat that you think about what it will be like in bright sun. The new blue mat ties the outside color of the car with the blue accents inside and looks a lot better than the black one (which emphasized the enormity of the dash), so I am thinking of using the blue one in winter when the sun isn't an issue and the black one when the sun is in season. I'm out 40 bucks for the second mat. Bob

The folks at Dashdesigns.com have a pretty good system. If you use Mozilla as your ISP connection, the Dashdesign website doesn't load properly. I called them over the phone. The only question she asked was whether my car had the navigation system because that entails one more hole in the top edge of the carpet for the GPS sensor. Otherwise, their computer data already has the info about air conditioning, etc. I got the carpet rather then the velour because I think the carpeting looks better and holds up better. I assume that most of the dash cover companies use similar ordering techniques and are of comparable quality. The difference is in the style and what it covers or doesn't cover on the dash. There are some photos of dash covers in the album section and in one of them the carpeting looks like pancake batter that has been poured over the dash. I think if the carpeting covers the seam between the flat darker part of the dash and the brownish curved glove box lid, it might interfere with the deployment of the airbag. The upper panel of the dash pops up and the pax airbag shoots out over the top of the glove box. Bob
Thanks for coming back from vacation just to answer my question in a timely fashion,,, you really didn't have to... but thanks anyway... air bags scare the HELL out of me... the Prius is only the secong car that I have had with them... my 95 Dakota had one on the drivers side... I was told that was because the driver probably made the payments... think I'll follow you and use the phone to order... again thanks for all your answers... enjoy the rest of your vacation... It's just personal preference, but I liked the velour fabric much better than the carpet material. I had an opportunity to see them both side by side at the factory. One thing nice about dashdesigns is they will install the dash mats for free. This might be an opportunity to visit the valley of the sun! No glare and no regrets, Dave
Hello, After waiting 4 week to get a dash mat from Dashtopper.com I was amazed to find out that it only covered 1/2 the dash. With a little more research I found Dash Covers of Arizona (Tempe). I went there to take a look at their product. It was perfect. I asked how long it would take to get one made and they said that I could take one that was due to be shipped out the next day and they would just make another one in the morning to be shipped out. They even did an great job installing the dash mat. All this at 4:50 the afternoon. Excellent customer service! Price $42.00. Their phone number is 1-800-332-1154 or 480-736-9113.
