is there a service manual or some kind of exploded view manual that shows how the dash and surrounding components are put together. i would like to tackle on disassembling my own dash rather than taking it into the dealer(rattle related). after all the dealer would have to go by some kind of manual wouldn't they?

I'm not aware of any official Toyota service manuals that detail with pictures how to remove a dash. There are several thread/posts on PriusChat where folks have included detailed pictures of portions of their dash removal process.

There are a few threads on here that show how people disassembled their dash and those are a good place to start.

The other thing you might want to consider is a two day Toyota TIS subscription at techinfo.toyota.com. You'll be able to view all of the factory service manuals and diagrams there including disassembly and reassembly instructions. It's only $15 for access for two days, so that should give you more than enough time to complete your project.
