Our used 2015 Prius Four came with a couple of badly-repaired (uneven and glossy) parallel damaged patches on the dash: I suspect that someone had mounted an iPass or EZPass or the like there and simply ripped it off and took some of the dash material itself with it when they sold the car (we bought it from a [non-Toyota] dealer who had taken it as a trade-in). Apart from the cosmetic problem, these crummy repairs reflect on the windshield. I did buy a dash pad, which covered them up but did not fit properly and had to be returned -- just as well for domestic harmony too, as SWMBO hated it. Any ideas on how to fix this -- or at least improve the situation?
Just a thought, for the manfuacturers: maybe they could sort out a "zone" on the dash, where adhesive mounts are often placed, and put some sort of smooth plastic inlay there. something colour-matched, and kosher looking, but relatively easy to clean, or remove and replace at low cost, if it came to that.
Maybe, but in fact the instructions with our iPass (don't recall about the EZPass we had before that) say not to put the device on the dash, as it may not be read properly and the user could be fined for a toll violation, but to attach it to the inside of the windshield behind the mirror. Now we use a suction-cup-mounted soap holder that we can put in that position when needed or lend to family members (whose vehicles are registered on our iPass account) when they are venturing into iPass territory.
