Anyone got pictures? I see that these typically run for 30 dollars also anyone done this? from Sigma Automotive – HID, PIAA, auto lighting, auto accessories, xenon, 350z, jdm, wrx, sti, 5zigen, hyper ground system
What you see there is just the output jack. What you don't see is the inverter. You can buy them from a lot of places, including Radio Shack. The inverter converts 12VDC to 115V AC. Be aware none of them are 100% efficient, the best approaching 90-95% efficiency. Even at that good efficiency, if you want to draw, say, 100W at 115VAC you need to put in 112W at 12 VDC. That's about 9.3 Amps at 12V and 8 Amps at 13.8V (when the car is on). If the car is off you can quickly drain the 12V battery. Also, most of these devices put out a square wave or modified square wave. Some electronics will not be happy with that. The units that put out a sine wave do so with a lot of distortion, and are only about 80% efficient, so the current draw will increase from the above numbers. But if you really need 115V AC in your car they are a solution.
