Hi: I just bought a 2007 Prius. This is the second time it has gone 'dead'. AAA jumped it the first time 10 days ago. It is dead again today. What do I do?
If a battery is not holding a charge, you would need to replace it. Do you have any way of charging the battery and testing it? If you don't have a way to charge the battery to test, it would be safe to just replace it. Odds are, it's already dying from the 2 incidents of it needing to be jump started.
Odds are, if the 12V battery is original, it was probably already dying from age before those two incidents.
Hi JC91006: I think you are right. Where is the battery located? Is it a conventional battery? Is it easy to remove it and take it to have tested? Would a Toyota dealer have to be involved or could some one like a SEARS Automotive provide the replacement battery? Thanks, Sunil

The battery is located in the rear passenger side of the the trunk. You can call some local dealers in the area to see how much they would charge for the battery. The prices will vary a bit. It can cost anywhere from $250 - $350 dollars to replace this battery at the dealer. Parts alone will be close to $200. Also I would be very careful in having AAA jump start this car, if they do it wrong and reverse the polarity of the battery, they can possibly do $4000+ damage to the car.

don't waste your time, go right to sears. if they say replace it, replace it. make sure you're not leaving a map light on and the hatch closes properly snf lites go out.
