I bought my 2010 Prius II from Camelback Toyota on July 10th. Here's what happened:

830 AM: i go into Camelback Toyota. My First Stop. Met a guy named Lou. Friendly. Test drove, asked questions, even went to off-site lot to find the car i wanted. Blizzard pearl. $22900 Quote. I told him, my dad thinks too high. He drops to $22000. I say ill go home and think about it. They offer to drop to $21800 if i drive out with the car now. I say i can't, so the owner's son walks over and says if i talk to my dad, they can hold that price for me until the end of the day.

10:30 AM: I go to Power Toyota Tempe. Test drive. Friendly guy. Told him my Dad wanted to beat the invoice price (22.5k) by 1k. So i offered $21500. He gave me a shocked look, walked away for 30 minutes, came back, flashed numbers at me, and told me $22,200 was the best he could do. I walked out, laughing in my head.

11:30 AM: Big Two Toyota. Didn't even bother test driving. Told them the price i wanted. Told them i was offered $21800, and would buy one from them for $21600. sales manager comes out, doesnt even try and negotiate with me. Says they will charge more. Then they tell me that bogus story that the the dealer will just add on extra costs in the end like im some kind of moron who can't read prices correctly.

3:30PM: Camelback Toyota calls. My mom gets hardcore with them. They offer $24,500 out the door, so before tax and all that, its $21,650. She agrees. Power Toyota calls at the same time. This time, after telling them about the $21,800 offer, they say they can also sell me for $21,650. However, none of the cars at Power Toyota have the window tint or the paint protection package.

7:30 PM: i go to Camelback. My parents sign the check, i drive away with a brand new prius.

    Moral of the story:

Big Two Toyota: full of S. Didn't even try to work with me. They wanted to sell me $22,700, which was about $200 above invoice. Wasn't flexible on pricing at all, so it was pretty obvious they didn't want my business.

Power Toyota: i would've done business here because the dealer is closer. But when i offered $21,500, they didn't take me seriously at all. They thought, oh here's a 21 year old, he's not serious about buying. So they offer me $22,200. Funny how they lost my business over $150....

Camelback Toyota: Brand new facility they opened up. There's like 10 plasma tvs, a service department with its own cafe and massage chairs. i've had an infiniti and the infiniti dealers don't even come close. But that didn't factor into the car buying at all. These guys kept throwing lower prices at me. They were willing to work with me, so i bought from them. The other dealers just laughed at me and my price, but hey, i guess they won't be seeing from me again.
