I googled and googled and came up dry. I also searched here. Does anyone know of an online DTC listing for a 2004 Prius? Absent that, I just received a ScanGuage gift and have been playing around with it. I see I have a U0293 Trouble Code with PID002=C293. The Prius seems to work fine. Can someone with a service manual decode this for me? The only (minor) historical items of note were running out of fuel once, and running the smaller battery down resulting in a need to jump the car. Thanks.
A quick search of the data I downloaded from the Toyota Tech site shows: "DTC U0293 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH HV ECU MONITOR DESCRIPTION The ECM and the HV control ECU are connected through a set of communication lines on the CAN, in order to maintain mutual communication. The ECM uses the communication lines to transmit the engine speed or other pieces of information to the HV control ECU. The HV control ECU transmits signals such as a engine torque request signal to the ECM. A few seconds after the power switch is turned ON, the ECM starts checking for any malfunction in the communication with the HV ECU. If the ECM detects a malfunction in the communication, the ECM sets a DTC and illuminates the MIL. MONITOR STRATEGY Related DTCs U0293: Lost communication with HV ECU Required sensors/ components ECM Frequency of operation Continuous Duration 0.68 second MIL operation Immediately Sequence operation None TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS The monitor will run whenever the following DTCs are not present See page 05–24 Power switch ON TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS Communication signal No signal from HV ECU 05FO7–03" I don't know if this specifically relates to your codes. Sometimes a one time hicup in the system sets codes like this. I downloaded most of the info off of http://techinfo.toyota.com/ Get a one day account for $5 and ftp away!
