I have almost new snow tires (Blizzak WS60) from my previous vehicle, but they are slightly smaller than the OEM tires that came w/ my new Prius. Snow tires are 195/60R15 88R versus the Prius's P195/65R15 89S. If I did my calculations right, the snows are about 3% smaller in diameter. (I presume the slight max load difference (1235 vs 1278 lbs) is not an issue). If I put these snows on will I encounter any problems? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Jim H (new Prius owner and loving it
You will be just fine. I'm running some studded 185/65/15's (leftover from 2nd gen Prius) which are same diameter as your 195/60/15, no issues.
Thank you Josh - I'm relieved, especially seeing that you work on Toyota's and obviously know your stuff. Thanks again.
If you put them on all 4 wheels you should have no problem. If you put them only on the front, you will be running with 2 different sizes which will cause the traction control light to come on when you reach 45-55 mph.
Thanks for the tip - I did not know that and would've been confused. Fortunately though I have 4 Blizzaks from my old car, and will definitely put all 4 on my Prius.
