Dip stick metric

    Has anyone determined the amount of oil between the oil full dot and the oil low dot on the dip stick?

    1.6 US quarts? Think it's in the manual somewhere.

    I wouldn't want to drive around with pretty much one third of the oil missing//

    Toyota very likely tested to be sure you're still safe at or above the low mark. Let it drop any lower, though, and you're risking major damage.

    Thanks! I was roughly a quarter lower than I had filled it for my 90k change, so I guess the engine (I said engine instead of ICE :) ) burned roughly 0.4 quarts over 10k miles. Not bad. This means I can lose 1.6 quarts before I have to top up and if the loss is linear, I'll be there at 360k miles. That would be just fine by me.

    .4 qt over 10,000 miles is very minor.
