Bob Howard Toyota in Oklahoma City has crossed over to the dark side. After lying to me back in March about a Prius they supposidly had coming in (we later learned that was bogus after they took our deposit and gave us a signed deal sheet), I had been working with their GM to make everything right. Well, I was out of commission for about 2 weeks because I had a baby, and when I called to get an update from the GM (Mike Long, very nice guy), I was told he no longer worked there. Hmmm... Transferred to the new GM, he never returned my call. Called today and talked to the head of customer relations (Amy - also very nice, but not keyed in to allocations, etc.). She transferred me to a head salesperson - Jay Hader - who tried to deny that they had ever lied to us. Oh, and what do you know, they have a Driftwood #5 coming in tomorrow with leather and it's only $3K over list. He claimed this was Toyota policy to charge a premium, I told him that was BS. Needless to say, the conversation did not go well. So even though I am #3 on their wait list, they won't sell the cars for list and he doesn't care about previous agreements with potential customers. My husband and I were planning to buy two new cars in the next few years and you can be sure we will not buy them from Bob Howard. My next phone calls are to Toyota corporate, the OK attorney general, and the BBB. Ugh, why has this whole process turned into such a nightmare for so many of us?! :cussing:
Seen elsewhere, I believe in the "Danny Needs Help" thread was a suggestion of a pair of lists where up to date tracking of dealers on the Light Side (e.g. Dianne) as opposed to Dark Side (e.g. Vandergriff and Bob Howard) with little blurb as to why a particular dealer belongs in that column. More and more it seems that this idea has legs. The logistical problem would be when a dealer moves from one category to the other and how to track this and erase the previous listing.
It would be best if it was a permanent topic forum like Fred's House of Pancakes. It could also be broken into regions. This would be most convenient for prius searchers. I believe only Danny has the power to do this. Che
I just bought a Prius from Bob Howard Toyota and I thought the service was GREAT! The salesman was GREAT the salesmanager cam in and took his time to talk with me not at me. The finance was so EASY! They laid everything out in writing in front of me and went over each ites and the pros and cons of each item. I have bought 28 cars in my life time and I will NEVER go anywere other than Bob Howard Toyota! I wish all car dealer can do business this way!
How much over MSRP did you pay, and what other options did, if any, did they force on you, or let you decline to purchase???
I think I'll wait for post No. 2 before suggesting there's an insider posting going on. OK. Perhaps I didn't wait, but it does look just a bit suspicious that a brand new PC member's first post was a vigorous defense of its dealership. (Yes, I think it is reasonable to have a bit more faith in someone who has been a PC member for 5 years and posted many times.) No matter what, let's hear what people have to say about this dealership.
