If you have your temperature control set to high temp and it's cold outside, and you press the remote A/C button on the fob, does the heat come on? I realize it might take some time for it to warm up, but after the warm-up period, will it turn warm? Or is it cold A/C only?
If the engine takes approx 4 min to warm up & the remote a/c turns off after 3 min I don't see how it would do much good. IMO it would probably blow a whole lot of cold air & delay the warm up.
This was tossed around quite a bit last week: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...63606-2010-solar-package-in-cold-weather.html Short snswer was 'no'. Sounded reasonable to me too.
It'll probably just turn on and then turn off lol. It only cools the car. Your preset temperature should be lower than what is outside.
Sorry, I'm a little confused... Are you asking about the remote a/c with the solar roof or with the a/c button on the remote start fob? I understand the answers are different. And couldn't you just add the remote start accessory to the solar package if you lived in a cold climate?
Yes! You could use remote start. It can start engine and can run heater, up to 10 min then it shuts down you can activate again for another 10 min... after that it will not remote start again. Two trys that it. The 4 min warm-up thing sounds about right. AC button will not start engine...I don't think you can get heat out of it not sure. Old Prius the heat was electric I think, but the 3 minute limit and not being able to use engine heat sounds like a nope to a warm Prius. I am just giving my best guess please have other validate information.
