Power is out here on Long Island. Can I leave the car power on to charge my phones? Will it take energy from the traction battery or the regular 12 volt? Anything wrong with leaving the power on to charge phones?
As long as your car is running (in ready mode) you can use the power outlets to charge things etc. When in ready mode your engine will run when necessary to keep the traction battery above it's minimum allowed state of charge. Having the engine cycle will not hurt anything. If you try to charge your phones in accessory mode, you will drain the 12V battery in a short time.
As stated above, u can do this as long as u have the Prius in "ready" mode.....if u don't then u will drain the 12v acc batt.
use caution running car you need ventilation when ICE running, although there was recent joke about how hard it is to build up CO with a Prius, play it safe.
