Does the PIP use a basic Prius windshield?

    all.

Alas, I need a new windshield (somebody kicked up something on the freeway, and in just a few days a small ding well away from my sightlines has expanded by more than six inches in each of several different directions).

The dealer quoted me $1300 just for the windshield (!), plus a couple hundred more for the install. But I can get the whole thing done privately for around $400 -- if the installer can use a 2010-2012 basic Prius windshield. Does anyone have any idea whether I can do that? Or is there something unique about the PIP windshield?

Obviously I need to get this handled fairly promptly; the cracks have spread so far so fast I'm afraid it's just not safe to put off fixing it for weeks and weeks.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    Regards,

    Jerry

  2. I can see no difference between my 2005 or the PIP, but I should think that windshield repair shops should be able to provide good information. I had quotes of $250 to $300 on my 05. Call around more.

Did you check with your insurance, For me I have 50$ decuctible for windshield fix at no additional cost.

  4. That's true, if you have full coverage, I forgot about that.
