this winter (still here) the battery (12V) on my new to me gen2 died. Got a new battery from Toyota. but since I was not going to drive the gen2 during this winter [ bad tires - because of bad struts] I didn't installed the battery until a month after purchase. the doors used to lock when the car was put in 'gear', they no longer do. yet on page 489 of owner's manual it states: '..shift the shift level to position other than "P" lock all doors..default setting: on...customized setting: off' read about the gen3 on these forum, what about gen2. anyway we the end users can program the door locks on a gen2 - not talking about fob; talking about car shifter and door locking and unlocking thanks
AFAIK, the functions for which you are looking are not available on the Gen 2. This thread is in the Gen 3 forums, which the OP acknowledged exists, and seems to relate to the Gen 3 model. The question was, are these settings available on the Gen 2? Answered above.
IIRC, this isn't user programmable in Gen 2. You'll need techstream or a good OBDII device and phone app to change it.
So, are you saying these functions, (auto door lock above 15 mph; auto unlock when P selected; auto unlock when driver's door opened; Lock all doors when either N D or R selected) are available on Gen 2?
I can't remember the details. It's been a long time since I hooked up techstream to my wife's '07. But at least some of those options are available, just not on a screen or button that's readily available. I think I have the wife's car set to lock the doors when it gets up to whatever that set speed is and to unlock when it's put in Park. I'd have to take it for another drive to be sure since it's been a while and the old gray cells aren't what they used to be. It's also set to unlock all doors when the driver touches the outside door handle.
