So, my 2013 Prius with 113k mile on her, has had the "Check hybrid System" warning come up periodically for the past year or so. Since it is a backup car at this point, I have done the "hack" of unplugging the computer for about 5 minutes, discharging it, letting it reset, then plugging it back in. She then runs fine for weeks/ month and hundreds of miles. I notice no charging problem with battery. Car shuts off when it should at lights and such, and runs off battery for a "normal" time. I took in to the dealer when warning came on yesterday because they say they can only diagnose a problem if it is showing. They say it read the P0A80 code, meaning time for a new hybrid battery, and codes C1259 and C1310 showing need for new ECU. But, may not need ECU if new battery installed, and they can't tell until battery installed. All to the tune of $4,496.89. My gut tells me sounds more like a software problem and not the battery? Thoughts? At end of the day if I have to, I am thinking about having "Green Bean" install battery and ECU for $1649.00. Thoughts or experience with them, too, would be appreciated.
P0A80 tells you there is an issue with the hv battery. But there are other codes associated with it called INF codes (Or sub codes) that point to the issue. That should be something they gave you and if not, they must have some payments due at the beginning of the month they need you to help them with . If you have the print outs, post them here and we can help.
