Hi guys. My driver's door makes a metal hitting metal type of noise at times when I open the door wide open. It seems to happen when there is enough force as the door opens all the way out. I took the car in for service this morning and tried to reproduce the noise and of course it was quieter. I checked all the bolts but it seems that everything is tight. It's the kind of noise you would expect when a bolt is loose or something. It seems to come from the door hinge but I really can't pinpoint it. I lubed the door hinge but no difference. If I open the door slowly all the way out then no noise. It only happens if there is enough force. Any idea what I can try?
Try another trip back to the dealer and some WD40 on the hinges. I assume the door does not open hard or stick, so I don't think it's serious. Can you shake the door and hear anything rolling, rattling, etc.? If so, you may have something in between the door panels. I suspect it could be a metal burr or dirt between one the door's three hinge mechanisms.
