Hi All, I just purchased a new PIP Advanced in Pearl White. I'm currently living in an condo complex that does not have a charging station so I am only driving the car in HV mode and leaving the traction battery depleted. Is this bad for the traction battery in the long run?
welcome and congrats! no prolemo, actually better for it to have a low charge than i high one, according to toyota. search around for free charging like whole foods, costco, and etc., all the best!
Dear new Prius owner: Fear not, the battery will never be depleted. The system will ensure that it maintains a safe charge on the main traction battery at all times.
Depleted = no plug-supplied electricity remaining. That's means there is as much as 23.5% of the battery's total capacity still available. HV mode operates between that 23.5% and roughly 18%. So, even without ever plugging in, the pack will be just fine.
