I went out in snow for the first and last time this morning. With even a fairly light dusting of snow the traction light kept coming on and I kept sliding all over the place. My old Peugeot had a snow mode and was fairly well behaved in the snow but the prius was awful. Any one have any tips apart from the obvious - don't drive in the snow?
Now as you may know I run those tyres and I really do not have a problem. They are not as good as winter tyres but I live out in a very rural area 9 miles to the nearest small town on the Welsh boarders and as you know from weather reports we have been hit quite bad. I live near the top of a hill half a mile up a country lane 8ft wide and 1 in 8 grade and share the road with only 2 nieghbours so road does not get used much The traction control on the Prius is very touchy so a light foot is needed but since changing the tyres before last winter I have not had a problem. This is the difficulty in the UK we do not have enough bad weather to warrant snow tyres. John (Britprius).
Just added some to my last post. I think it is really a matter of getting used to the Prius traction control.
Yes we are thank you, but the snow is now about 6inches deeper now. Well prepared with plenty of food and logs in stock. Weather forecast was correct for a change. John.
