I use the eco mode....I have noticed it turns off iteslf...while driving.....I do not have the manual with me and can not look it up. I will have it in eco mode, park, come back and need to push it back so the dash eco light comes on....is this normal to disengage itself ? Thankyou for any feedback. I use it mostly as I drive to work at 35 mph and am there in 2 minutes.....
2 different things. "ECO mode" is the button you push to engage specific parameters such as throttle response and A/C control. There's a light on the display (perhaps over on the right) that remain lit till you shut off ECO mode. This setting survives power off. On the power meter, the ECO light is on when your throttle is on the "ECO Zone" - IOW anywhere between charge and PWR. It simply indicates you are driving economically. This light turns off when you advance into the PWR zone and comes back on when you let off.
Thankyou! My husband now tells me he had it pushed off....apparently he went for a ride this morning to go kayaking and changed the mode!
Just my 2 cents: Toyota's ECO mode mainly just means you have to press down further on the gas pedal to get the same reaction. For me it got tedious real quick, I switched it off. I think as long as you're gentle on the gas you can get the same mileage without ECO.
ECO mode also controls the air conditioning and saves quite a bit of energy. It's not so much a matter of having to push the pedal further, its more about having finer throttle control which makes it possible to save more gas. Much easier to keep it in the EV zone with the ECO mode. I have big fat heavy feet and I find it much easier to get good throttle control in ECO mode.
