What's an ECU update? I'm assuming it for updating the firmware in the Engine Control Unit. But, you know what they say about those that assume....that's why I'm asking. Just to be sure I understand. Thanks!

Did you just get your recall notice? SC-50P was issued to reflash the ECU that was suposedly causing a stalling problem in some Prius. I had mine done in November. A search will provide more info.

<_< ECU = Engine Control Unit - one of the MANY "computers" in the Prius.

I just bought the 2006 Prius a couple of weeks ago. I only live 10 miles from work. When I pull into the parking lot at work I am going less than 10mph. The MFD (Multi-Function Display?) shows the battery applying power to the wheels and the ICE does not have any power flow. But, I can hear the ICE running. I don't think this is correct, that is why I asking about the ECU. Should I tell my dealer about this -or- is this normal?

The ICE is not running if the MFD shows no power flow. Are you sure the ICE is actually running? It could be motor or fan noise. It is also possible the ICE is being spun without gas to burn excess battery charge. This doesn't happen often, but after a long downhill with lots of regen, the battery can charge to its limit and the computer will spin the ICE just to use up energy.
