EGR COLLER,VALVE,MANIFOLD & REPLACE NEW PCV VALVE

    Hi All,

    I have clean EGR valve, COLLER, manifold and replace the new pcv valve I just want to know do I have put any sealent on all the gaskit when put it back.

    No. What was the miles? How was the EGR condition?

    FWIW, @jerrymildred is working in a Tampa Florida independent sales/maintenance business that deals with mostly (if not all?) with Prius. He's been cleaning a lot of 3rd gen Prius EGR systems (model years 2010 through 2015). They had one 4th gen owner asked them to do an EGR cleaning, at 360K miles IIRC, and it was apparently near-new condition, not needed.

    Good job! Welcome. No sealant on any of those gaskets. IIRC, the PCV valve comes with some thread sealer pre-applied; at least the ones we get have it.

    Hi Mandel,

    Thanks for your reply I have seen lots of your post & you always come first with the solution, actually first time I have clean all these parts EGR COLLER, valve, manifold etc etc it's Prius 2018 reg with 80k on clock everything is fine but wasn't sure about the gaskit sealent do I have to use the sealent again or not but one of gentleman said don't need to use the sealent on the gaskit.

    One more thing I want to share that when I clean the EGR valve, manifold and replace the new pcv valve but for EGR COLLER I had a spare one one of my friend gave to me so I put that EGR COLLER into the car and keep the dirty one for clean it & also I drained all the old coolant and put the new coolant after that I drove my car so I noticed so much white smoke was coming out from the exhaust and when I put my finger into the exhaust pipe there was water coming out as well so I got panic then I call one of my mechanic he said probably the EGR COLLER I have used it's leak then I took out that COLLER and check it the way he told me it was leak EGR COLLER then he arrange another EGR COLLER I fixed that and it was fine but problem was the collant went into the exhaust and car was giving so much white smoke then mechanic advise me take your car on the motorway and drive untill collant get dry so I drive about 30 minutes on motorway and then white smoke finish. Now my question is there any chance collant has damage something else like engine or head gaskit etc etc please share your experience.

    Hi again, Zak. It sounds like your mechanic gave you good info.

    I hadn't noticed before that you have a Gen 4. That car uses a different routing for the EGR gasses than the Gen 3 and therefore, clogged coolers and intake manifolds are going to be exceedingly rare. We just cleaned one per customer request that had over 300,000 miles on it. They sure did waste their money! I'm curious as to how your cooler looked as well as the little ports in the manifold.

    The leaky cooler should not have done any damage to the head gasket or anything else in the short time you drove it like that, especially if you didn't hear any knocking or have any engine shaking. We've had one leaky cooler into our shop and there was no other damage to the car. I'd think that all it would have done is clean off some of the carbon from the head, valves, and piston tops.
