While the emergency brake was set, I happend to lean against the rear driver side of the the car and was surprised to hear a clanking, slapping noise coming from underneath the rear of the car; seemingly near the left rear wheel. What I think I'm hearing is the emergency brake cable (I assume this is a rear wheel cable brake) slapping against the vehicle frame or wheel axle. Even opening and closing the rear passenger door caused the cable to slap against the car. This got me to experiment a bit, so I rocked the car back and forth and side to side. It's the side-to-side movement that causes the noise. The emergency brake works when set. The noise disappears when I release the emergency brake. This is not enough of an issue for me to take the car to the dealer, but thought I'd share this unusual discovery. Happy Motoring! Tom
Awww Crap. Now you've got me wondering.... I don't use E-brakes generally speaking, but I'm required to when I drive my Prius (company car.) I'll let you know if I can replicate this.
