I just found out on Friday that my employer, Bank of America, has a hybrid discount program to encourage the purchase of a hybrid auto. All you have to do is fax in a bill of sale, showing that the employee is at least one of the buyers & within 90 days, a $3,000 rebate will be added to your paycheck. Of course it's taxed like other income but hey, it's still $3,000. I'd have never known about this if a co-worker hadn't stumbled across it & then clued me in. I got to thinking that perhaps other employers are doing the same so you might want to check it out. BofA has it running through the end of 2009 & it applies to a huge list of hybrids, even the Lexus!
Just wanted to add that for BofA, it must be a brand new hybrid. They give the reimbursements for any of the cars that are/were IRS eligible -- even if they have been phased out from the IRS list. I must say, this incentive worked on me and made my purchase possible. I am expecting delivery tomorrow of a new 2009, and I will immediately file for the $3k. Check with your employers!
That's not fair! I owe Bank of America over $3000 so I should get the rebate as a customer. Don't they value their customers? I guess not.
